For this project, we explored the postal stamp as a small yet powerful medium for visual communication, selecting a topic to spread awareness through a limited yet impactful space. I chose to focus on ADHD, designing a series of stamps where each letter in the acronym was visually represented in a way that reflected its meaning. Wanting to make my project more distinctive, I discovered through research that the butterfly is often used as a symbol for ADHD, representing movement, transformation, and the way thoughts can flutter in many directions. Inspired by this, I incorporated an origami butterfly into my design, adding a three-dimensional, mixed-media element to the traditionally flat format of a stamp. This approach allowed me to blend graphic design with physical craftsmanship, emphasizing both the structured and free-flowing nature of ADHD. The final composition not only highlighted the intricacies of ADHD but also pushed the boundaries of how a postal stamp can be both an artistic and educational tool.
